Governor's Harbour is the capital of Eleuthera and one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas. It's a town that is blessed with extreme beauty with narrow winding streets that flow from the harbour, through the town and up towards Buccaneer Hill.
Whilst there is the option of doing absolutely nothing apart from chilling out on a deserted beach, Governor's Harbour is the capital of Eleuthera and unlike many places on Eleuthera, there is a good selection of cafes, bars, restaurants and several shops.
Away from the town, sailing is extremely popular and one of the favourite spots is around Schooner Cays and the Marker Bars. These are a group of islands and sandbars off Cape Eleuthera which are paradise. Being uninhabited, there is every chance that you will be the only people there to explore their breathtaking beauty.

One of the best beaches is Hut Point Bay on the Atlantic side of Governor's Harbour.

Eleuthera is an all year round destination with a tropical climate and average summer temperatures of high 80s°F dropping to the mid 70s°F during the short winters. The position of Eleuthera means it experiences the same weather as southern Florida although slightly cooler and includes the likelihood of hurricanes from July to November. Short bursts of torrential rain can be expected between late May and October which coincides with the hot and humid summer months.
