Spanish Wells is an old settlement on St. George’s Cay just off the northern tip of Eleuthera which is also connected by bridge to Russell Island. Getting to Spanish Wells is via water taxi from Jeans Bay and takes around 10 minutes. The settlement is roughly the same size as the capital of Eleuthera, Governor's Harbour, but relies on lobster farming rather than tourism for income. Whilst there is the option of doing absolutely nothing apart from chilling out on a deserted beach, Spanish Wells, unlike many places on Eleuthera, is fairly lively with a small selection of cafes, bars, restaurants and several shops.
Either for lunch or dinner, there are several fantastic informal beach bars and restaurants serving exquisite local dishes such as lobster, souse chicken and cracked conch. Popular with locals and tourists are The Shipyard and Sandbar Bar & Grill which are the places to go for some great sundowner cocktails.

Eleuthera is an all year round destination with a tropical climate and average summer temperatures of high 80s°F dropping to the mid 70s°F during the short winters.
The position of Eleuthera means it experiences the same weather as southern Florida although slightly cooler and includes the likelihood of hurricanes from July to November.
